Moses\r\nrecorded the entire EP from his apartment in\r\nMid-City, Los Angeles straight to cassette on a\r\nfour-track recorder that TV on the Radio's Dave Sitek\r\nlent him.\r\nTo mark the 10 year anniversary of Mid-City Island,\r\nMoses kept good on a promise he made to himself all\r\nthose years ago, broke and starting out - that he\r\nwould press it to vinyl in a decade.\r\nReflecting back on that period, Moses says\r\n\"Mid-City, Los Angeles was more of a concept than a\r\nplace. Seemingly nobody had ever heard of it, and\r\nyet it was the geographic center of the city. Living\r\nthere felt analogous to my disposition as a \"rising\"\r\nAngeleno - highly visible and invisible at the same\r\ntime. I sat on my bedroom floor and wrote \"Plastic.\"\r\nThroughout his 10-year career, Moses Sumney has\r\nconsistently evaded definition as an act of duty:\r\ntechnicolor self-directed videos and monochrome\r\nclothes; Art Rock and Black Classical; blowing into\r\nFashion Weeks from a small town in North Carolina;\r\nseemingly infinite collaborators, but one staggering\r\nvoice.
